CALVIN O’NEAL JR.
Calvin grew up outside of Detroit, Michigan in a city with no farms and a few hills called: Farmington Hills. His hobbies include attending premiere night at the movie theatre, improv, playing Pokémon and constantly keeping creative.
Led by his passion for filmmaking he left film school in Chicago and began working as an animation editor at the award-winning Moonbot Studios (Shreveport, LA) in 2009. Prior to joining Moonbot full time, he gained some experience in the edit room & on the set of James Gunn’s Super. He has worked on productions including the Academy Award Winning animated short, The Fantastic Flying Books of Morris Lessmore. Calvin also edited several Emmy Award winning branded content pieces such as Chipotle’s The Scarecrow, Dolby Laboratories’ Silent & Radio Flyer’s Taking Flight. Calvin also cut Gatorade’s The Boy Who Learned To Fly. An animated short based on Usain Bolt’s life story.
In 2017 Calvin began working at Magic Leap (Plantation, FL - yes thats really the city name). While he was there he created public facing content for the web, social media accounts, and promotion materials utilized for consumer and partner events. Producing 75 pieces of content, such as video trailers, promo clips, social posts and behind the scenes documentaries. During that time he was fortunate enough to work in collaboration with partners such as Weta Workshop, HBO, AT&T, NBA (I got to meet Shaq and sadly we’re not related), Insomniac Games, Imaginarium Studios, and The Royal Shakespeare Company.
In 2019 Calvin moved out west and worked for Madefire (Emeryville, CA) before starting work on Disney+’s The Proud Family Louder & Prouder in Summer 2020. He currently lives in Los Angeles.
